Urbani family has been a prestigious and respected - name in the truffle business for generations. From its inception, in 1850, under the guidance of Carlo Urbani, the Urbani reputation for excellence has been carefully and faithfully handed down from one generation to the next. As a result, the passage of so many years has served only to strengthen the Urbani name and heritage, as each newer generation blends the traditions, customs and knowledge of the previous one, and adds its own unique sense of enrichment.

Thus the Urbani name maintains its esteemed reputation of pre-eminence, and continues to represent the best in truffle sourcing and processing. Today, the Urbani Group is proudly and effectively directed by Paolo and Bruno Urbani, direct descendant brothers of the Urbani founders. Each one of these highly dedicated and trusted men serves as the primary conduit through which all Italian and foreign associates make their initial contact with the Urbani Tartufi company.

In addition, Paolo and Bruno Urbani represent the assurance that there will be a constant supply of truffles. The success of Urbani Tartufi, in great measure, has been made possible by the unique charisma and profound knowledge of the Urbani brothers. For both Paolo and Bruno, their greatest pleasure is seeing their truffles, which are found and picked in fertile woodlands thousands of miles away, being served on tables in some of the most prestigious restaurants in the world, or as stunning exhibits in famous shop windows, where they entice shoppers who know ?and long for ?the exotic taste and pleasures of a truffle. For this reason, Paolo Urbani received the highest sign of honor ?the “Cavaliere del Lavoro” - from the President of the Italian Republic. This prestigious title is reserved only for those special (and rare) entrepreneurs who have made a huge economic impact on Italy.

Impress your friends and family by adding a smoker to your grilling arsenal. You can buy a separate grill to use as a dedicated charcoal smoker, or you can simply lay wood chips over the coals on your standard charcoal grill. Either way, a good charcoal smoker can liven up summertime grilling.

Most charcoal smokers are pill- or barrel-shaped and sit upright. A few barrel-shaped smokers lie horizontally and have a stand with wheels, much like standard grills. Putting the charcoal and wood chips at the bottom and having two grilling racks above, provides additional space and the ability to cook at different temperatures.

Charcoal smokers range in price from $55 to $2,000 and more, it all depends on their make and options. Some have multiple doors to check on the meat without opening the lid and letting out a lot of heat. Others have a water pan for steam smoking. Some have chimneys, others have vents. Some are smokers on legs, other are decked out with tables, baskets, enormous grilling space, multiple compartments and more. The fanciest have separate smoke compartments and stainless steel counter space.

While many charcoal smokers are equipped with thermometers standard, many smoker reviews call them worthless and recommend buying a proper meat thermometer to use instead. Other reviewers said they saw little advantage in stainless steel exteriors over the cheaper powder black coating on steel.

Smaller upright smokers are compact and good for a couple smoking pork chops or ribs. Vertical smokers are typically larger and will be able to handle bigger parties.

Because smokers get very hot, be careful using them on wooden decks. If you live in an apartment, make sure you check with the office to see if they are allowed. Landlords sometimes consider them a greater fire hazard because they are left unattended for longer periods of time than a conventional grill.

Smokers and reviewers suggest taking notes every time you smoke mean, so you’ll be able to adjust temperatures, the kinds of wood to use with certain meats, and how long to smoke.

As with conventional charcoal grills, one important feature to look for is ash catching and removal. Many grills are equipped with a small bowl attached to the underside to catch ash coming out of the vents and larger grills have separate removable compartments that catch and hold ash

Chimney starters are available to get the charcoal hotter faster and because they use paper, they eliminate lighter fluid residue. However, none of the most popular and widely-distributed charcoal smokers include chimney starters as a standard feature. Chimney starters usually cost about $15.

Should I buy food and products that support workers in Third World by buying Fairtrade labelled products even though these goods normally travel thousands of miles from Africa, South America or South East Asia? What if these foods were produced with the use of pesticides and additives? It makes sense then to look for and to buy Fairtrade, organic food to both help the producers in the Third World and fulfil my lifestyle choice to eat healthy and additive/pesticide free food. Thankfully, many producers are now wising up to this dilemma by increasingly producing organic and Fairtrade labelled products. I am currently using Fairtrade, organic t-bags at home! Now comes another important question, should I buy Fairly Traded organic sugar from Kenya that has travelled thousands of miles, or should I buy apples grown in the UK (ideally from a farmers market) that have only travelled only a few hundred miles which means less carbon dioxide and other nasty emissions from the lorries that you see constantly on the motorways in the UK? Buying UK products not only ensures less food miles but also supports local farmers, communities and economies. Unfortunately, choice is often limited and can be more expensive then food produced in other countries? Decisions, decisions, it’s probably best to abstain from eating and give your choice making brain a rest!

But I can safely say that I make attempts to avoid food or products that have travelled from far away destinations such as Australia even if they are organic! Next time you are in the supermarket or wherever you buy your food from check the labels and you will be surprised by how far your food has travelled. Also look at the amount of unnecessary wrapping such as individually wrapped peppers, mushrooms and kiwi fruit in wrapped boxes. When I buy from the local market I tell them to throw it all into one bag, the customer next to me often has 10 individually wrapped portions of fruit and veg. That’s 11 (10 plus one big plastic bag) bags into the landfill site that day. For maximum eco efficiency we need to be using jute or other bags made from recycled materials and putting all the loose food into that.

The author runs a website providing Bollards order online and its own mark Xpanda Security gate. His company is major in selling Roller doors.

Do you know how far the apple in your kitchen traveled before you picked it up at the grocery store? According to the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture, apples in American grocery stores typically travel 1,726 miles before reaching your kitchen! Just think about the fuel needed to transport produce like this across the country or across borders. Also think about the pollution generated by the vehicles carrying this produce. An apple a day may keep the doctor away but the fumes accompanying it will definitely hurt us!

The impact on the environment is one issue, but we also have to worry about preservatives that are used to keep this apple nice and crispy during its very long journey to your grocery store. To keep produce fresh during the long haul across continents and oceans, produce companies have to use chemical preservatives. It is well documented that preservatives are hazardous to human health.

So what can we do? Well, you can try your best to buy local produce whenever possible. Even though America has lost more than 5 million farms (USDA figures) since 1935, there are still many farmers who have generated markets for themselves in the cut throat world of global competition. Since produce from your local farms are traveling very short distances there is less pollution created in their transport. There is also less packaging and processing involved which also helps to lessen the amount of garbage we put into the environment and ourselves!

It really is enjoyable to mix up your food shopping routine by purchasing your fresh produce and meats at your local farmers?market. In many cases you can negotiate prices (which is fun). I also find your fellow shoppers are generally in a happier frame of mind when they’re perusing farmer’s booths than when they’re steering a shopping cart through crowded aisles at the grocery store. If you’re like me and treasure the rural areas surrounding your urban region, then you also likely feel the sense of sadness each time a farm is sold for yet another residential or commercial development.

Find out the location of your nearest farmers’ market, note the dates that they are open and plan to be there bright and early to get the freshest, tastiest food choices of the day! Your family will thank you, you’ll be supporting your local economy and helping to save the environment.

Creating a home beer brewery is usually a exciting process and a thing that a group of friends might can start together to buy and use. The build of a home brewery does not have to be expensive, since most of the equipment can be bought for under for under a hundred dollars like the coopers home brew system. There are more expensive systems on the market that automate the process and create more beer at a time like equipment as the therminator wort chiller, but when you decide on buying this kind of equipment you will be able to earn it back by selling your beer at parties and pups.

Okay, let us get started. On one side you have the “Pro”, the positions in favor:

The leading point favoring the use of constructing a home brewery is that you’ll be rewarded for finding pleasure in creating your own beer..

Your second supporting point is going to be who have created your own favorite kind of beer and can enjoy drinking it with your friends and family..

The third positive point is the cost, because you can create a home brewery and produce beer at a small fraction of the cost from buying beer in a store..

A 4th support point in favor is going to be the flavors, the flavour of beer created with your own individual home brewery will likely surprise you, because it’s going to be great if you use a fantastic recipe..

And conversely, for balance, the Con side, against:

Firstly, the point against will be that you should invest some money to create some cash, but you’ll have earned it back before long..

The 2nd point in contra is that you need to have some patience before your first batch is ready.

3rd point against will be the sanitizing you will have to do, you don’t want the full batch wasted because you did not clean it properly..

And 4th and last, but not necessarily the least, consideration against is that you’ll see your friends and family more reguarily, because after they have tasted your excellent beer, they’ll be around a lot more..

Now both sides have been heard from and the Pros and Cons are stacked up, in favor and against. So, with the final analysis is making a home brewery the good thing? or a bad thing? Both questions seem to have a “yes” answer! constructing a home brewery is all most all good, but you must choose which side, the good or the bad, outweighs the other…

The author of this article, Peter Waterman, writes on his website HomeBeerMakers .com about his greatest hobby, making his own beer. Read his articles about for example a stainless steel Fermenator.

Every professional kitchen will have a microwave combination oven. Utilising the combination of microwaves and conventional roasting the combination oven will give the chef the ability to cook dishes significantly faster than with a conventional type of oven.

A domestic microwave oven is certainly no match for the job, this is serious cooking equipment for serious professional kitchens. Professional kitchens and of course professional kitchen equipment is a far cry from the cheap microwave combination ovens you might pick up from your local electrical store.

Designed to deliver years of professional use and with the ability to cook food much quicker (around 4 times ) than conventional ovens, they are an incredible asset to the professional caterer where consistent fast throughput is very important. Every successful restaurant will seek to deliver consistent high quality food and fast.

The name of the game is Power and Speed, a typical high end combination oven delivering 3000 watts, with the ability to roast, brown and bake, drastically improving cooking speed.

Features To Look For

Stainless Steel Body

Premium Brand

Large Capacity

Power Rating

Viewing Window

Easy Cleaning

User Friendly Programming and Controls

With the output and work rate of professional kitchen equipment it is of huge benefit to buy branded premium catering equipment. It’s a tough environment and buying cheap catering equipment can be a false economy. The cost of buying new combination ovens can be prohibitive. Professionally reconditioning a combination oven can deliver serious results without the price of buying new.

The ability to use convection power and microwave power in sequence really steps up the cooking game. Large quantities of food cooked to perfection, and in quick succession, requires quality catering equipment! Many, if not all the major combination oven manufacturers have extremely simple multiple programming options enabling the chef to literally push a button and deliver consistent quality at a consistent rate every time. The professional Chefs Best Friend

Wedding ceremonies have moved on some way from the traditional routine we have all become accustomed to. What images are conjured up when you think of weddings? Long flowing dresses, rustic church halls, the token paralytic uncle, a distasteful towering cake and plenty of sausage rolls and Blue Nun? Ok, most of this still relevant! You may not be able to ecape the pomp and ceremony surrounding this most magical of days, but you no longer have to suffer with sodden sandwhiches and putrid pineapple on-a-stick.

Of course at the polar opposite is the traditional, regimented, set menu sit down meals. While these may feel special with the flawless linen table clothes, ostentatious cutlery, and fine china, for many they are simply a ‘grin and bear it’ routine. The perfect alternative that that is gaining popularity with love birds across the UK, is outside catering.Private caterers can offer you a great deal of choice in both your menu content and how your food is cooked, presented and delivered.

Whether you want a modern spin on the formal sit down meal with silver service, a laid back gourmet buffet where guest can simply ‘dig in’ to their hearts content, or a hog roast to turn your event into a medieval feast, private catering can serve up the desired atmosphere to keep your wedding celebrations going long into the evening.

Outsourced wedding catering is really taking off at the moment and many companies can now offer the complete experience. It’s not just about food, specially selected venues can also be rented out, forming the perfect backdrop for your party. You may even want to get professional bar tenders in to mix your dinks with finesse and panche, giving your wedding that bit of extra uniqueness that your guests will be talking about for months to come. Forget Betty from next door making the cucumber sandwiches, turn to outside catering to ensure your wedding is as memorable for your guests as it is for you and you partner!
