McDonalds Try to Show their Green Side
Posted on January 30th, 2010. Filed under: General. In an attempt to make McDonald’s look more eco-friendly, stores across Europe will be changing their logo. After many years of the classic golden arch with a simple red background, a number of stores across Europe will be changing to a green background.
Over the past few years, McDonald’s have faced harsh criticism for environmentally un-friendly methods. However, to combat that, they have rolled out a series of eco-friendly practices for different stores around the world.
The change in logo colour is the eco-friendly approach that is being made in Europe. This change has already rolled out across a few stores within France and the United Kingdom. The change will have the biggest effect in Germany as over 100 stores are planning to make the change before Christmas 2009. Whether we will see more stores taking up this colour change is not known.
You might be thinking, how can such a simple change in the logo have an effect for their green image. However, this slight change to their logo will show the public that they are making a difference within their company.
Sony Ericsson did some similar to this earlier on in the year. Although they only wanted to freshen up their logo, and not send a message, rather than creating a brand new logo, they just changed the colours. This shows that if your business has the right logo, only small changes need to be made for it to have a big effect.
There’s no reason why this couldn’t work for your company’s logo. As an example, if you were a food based business, changing a few things to make a series of catering logos you could use would give your business a fresh image. The same thing could work for any logo really, whether you create clothing logos or church logo examples.
