Posted on May 28th, 2009. Filed under: Kids and Parenting.Nowadays, more and more women are using an ovulation calendar to help them in their conception efforts. Conception is still a difficult task for many women in the world and most of it can be attributed to incorrect timing. Its a myth that pregnancy can happen anytime. As a result some women really start thinking that there is something wrong with them when their efforts to conceive fail.
Pregnancy is only not possible if the doctor has told you of any kind of disease which prevents you from conceiving and conducted tests to prove that fact. However, if nothing like that has ever happened, then rest assured that you can conceive. Although, if you have any kind of doubt in your mind, a visit to the doctor will do you good. Otherwise, an ovulation calendar can aid your conception efforts. The first step in this direction is to keep a tab on your menstruation cycle, particularly the time it starts. If you have missed it this month, dont worry. The next time it happens you need to mark it on your calendar or diary. There is a lot of variation in the first day as far as the periods are concerned; hence you need to note the date down every time.
Your ovulation calendar will ask you to enter the first day of your last period. Then it will also ask you about the days for which your period lasted. Generally the length of the menstrual cycle differs from person to person; therefore you need to record the date as well. After that you need to record the length of the luteal phase or in other words the days past ovulation (DPO). This is the time period between the last day of your menstrual cycle and the time your ovulation runs out.
You will need to know all of these things in order for your ovulation calender dates to come out just right. Do not be discouraged if you have not been keeping track. There is never a wrong time to start. There is also usually a place to input whether or not you want a boy or a girl. Some people have no preference. Once you have put all of your required information in, a calender will pop up that displays the first day of your period, the length of days that it lasts, and when your ovulation will next occur. There are some days during ovulation that your are more fertile than others. Those days will be highlighted. The day that you are most fertile will also be the most highlighted of all of the days. The rest of the calender will appear regular, because you will not be fertile during that time.
Ovulation tests cost a lot these days. Ovulation calendars are free and convenient and completely natural. They can tell you the most fertile days of your cycle and are a better way to conceive.
