Off of the East Coast a real estate businessman purchased a tiny island with the intention of building a resort area. As he surveyed the island it was determined that he could build a small hotel including a golf course. He had an idea to build a brick retaining wall to encircle the whole resort area thinking this would enhance and add value to this place. His designer present the plans to the construction company and it was then noted that getting the materials from the mainland to the island was a dilemma Transporting passengers from the mainland was also something that needed to be thought out. What would be the best direction to go with these two problems? All roads led to the plan of buying pontoon boats. The boats would be a big plus in transporting the building supplies and help with the construction. The pontoons would be used in moving guests from one area to another. With pontoons, they were able to solve two problems with move.

The following day our man had located a boat dealer in the area and was able to purchase three pontoon boats. A larger, more detailed pontoon boat would be delivered later for the opening of the hotel to transport the guest. The pontoon boats used for construction and transportation were basic models with fourteen feet of open work space, just what was needed to build the planned rock retaining wall. With the pontoons being open this provided a platform area for a stable work area. With the start of construction two weeks later the crew worked quickly and being so efficient was able to complete the work in a timely manner.

The workers found the pontoons especially helpful when they needed to berth in shallow waters, if they had any other type of boat, this wouldn’t be possible. But with the pontoon boats greater versatility, the workers are able to get where they need to go around the island with relative ease. The contractors are able to lay out their blueprints and work directly from the deck of the boat without fear of tipping over or falling into the water because of an unstable working platform. The pontoon boats are serving all of their needs quite well, the contractors are so impressed by the strength and durability of the pontoon boats that they are going to invest in a small fleet of pontoon boats to use the next time they receive a contract for marine construction.

The resort was completed with the estimated time frame and the owner was so impressed he gave the crew a big bonus payment, for a job well done. The owner was very impressed with the rock wall surrounding the island, the hotel was beautifully built, and just think all the materials were brought to the island by pontoon boats, the owner never thought that pontoon boats could be so helpful; he has always pictured them as a pleasure vessel. Pontoon boats are now finding their rightful place among the water vessels used for more than just cruising. People are finding many ways to use their pontoons and making the boat work for them in many instances.
