Millions of families visit Orlando each year to experience a week at the Disney parks. After a few days of long lines and crowds, however, many will need a break. If this happens to your family, consider a trip to Universal Studios Florida. Its full of movie based attractions and plenty of rides for kids to enjoy.

At Universal Studios Florida, most of the best kiddie rides are located in the Woody Woodpecker Kid Zone. This area is home to the Nuthouse Coaster, a gentle roller coaster that kids can rides with their parents. Theres also the E.T. Adventure ride, where families board vehicles that resembles Elliots bicycle. Youll soar through the woods, and as you exit the ride, E.T. will say goodbye to each rider by their own name. Finally, dont miss the Curious George water play area, with interactive fountains and plenty of fun for the kids.

Children of all ages love Universal rides such as Men in Black, an interactive dark ride, and Jaws, a boat ride with an appearance by a giant mechanical shark. Finally, don’t miss Jimmy Neutron’s Nick Toon Blast, featuring Spongebob and other Nick characters, as well as the Shrek 4-D show, based on the popular movie franchise.

Next, head next door to Islands of Adventure, Universal Resort’s newest theme park. Kids will love the Seuss Landing area, with a water play zone, a magical carousel, and plenty of kid-friendly rides. Nearby, families can wander through the Jurassic Park region, where kids can dig for dinosaur bones, ride a gentle coaster, and ride the Jurassic Park River Adventure, a dinosaur themed boat ride ending in a big splash.

When the weather gets hot, you’ll love Toon Lagoon, featuring a log flume ride and a truly excellent white rapids boat ride. Younger kids will enjoy playing on Popeye’s ship, a water-based playground with interactive fountains to run through.

Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure may be known for their thrill rides, but families will still find plenty of attractions suitable for kids.
